I've had success with the larger tubes using those 'strap wrenches' you see on
advertised
on TV occasionally.
But I bought the higher quality type from a plumbing supply house.
And they won't scratch/gouge the surface.
A little soaking with penetrating oil and a 'controlled' force on opposing
wrenches.
They won't work on the smaller diameter tubes, not enough surface area.
BTW, when adjusting a mast for proper direction, these are great as they can be
left
around the mast while tightening the clamp bolts.
they also make a good 'Armstrong Rotator handle' for Field day antennas.
