Here's a thought: position all the CQ-Contest listmembers who are debating
the meaning of the word "assisted" at the base of the tower.
The noise and hot air should convince the birds to leave and never come
back!

Hmmmmm......
Well perhaps one could put some sort of anmation into an otherwise inert
owl, (sound, lights, vibration, or motion) that could be triggered by
this Very cheap Radar Sensor from Wal-Mart (details below):
http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=4661205
Highly detailed hacker info at sites below,. or Google Radar +Wal-Mart to
get a lot of hobbyist hacking info on the $20.00 X band Radar.
On sale after Christmas for around $20.00, the real, working X band
doppler radar toy for kids could be employed as a sensor, mounted on the
tower, pointed up towards the antenna/bird perch, and once bird activity,
caused motion to be detected by the radar;
(you would have to find and tap a signal source somewhere in the radar
circuit, but somewhere there would be an audio doppler signal product from
the X band mixer, that drives the digital speed readout (all this For $20
retail!!) ) use the signal to drive a switch or relay to key the noise
maker...
For a noise maker, you could use the signal to trigger, say, a battery
operated cell phone vibrator in the plastic owl, a lamp inside the owl, or a
noise maker in the owl (skreech) or or other scary stimulus to the birds
that would get them to leave. Maybe just a cell phone vibrator (dirt cheap
at surplus sources) Ty-wrapped to the boom of the antenna, to give a
surprizing buzz to the bird's feet on the command of the radar sensor....
Maybe just a periodic vibrator buzz to the vibrator that sends a mechanical
buzz every few minutes to the antenna....
