Rocks, MD could you please let me know if you have strong power line
noise in the frequency range of 1800-3600 KHZ. Use AM mode to listen
for it. I would like to report these findings to the power company to
assist in their search. Thanks -Joe n3Hee

I don't know if this will help, but if the noise is frequency selective and diminishes rapidly outside of that range it almost certainly will be a consumer device or industrial device of some type. Some of the satellite TV services have some particularly bad recorders/receivers that wipe out from the AM BCB up and then abruptly cut off. The noise sounds exactly like power line noise except for bandwidth. That noise can go for miles.

What is the characteristic of the noise?
