Fellow Topbanders:
It has been suggested to the Boring Amateur Radio Club that we include
some kind of historical link on our Stew Perry contest web page to tell
the story of Stew Perry, W1BB. This is an excellent idea.
Personally, I don't feel qualified to author something like this as my
awareness of Stew was mostly from a long distance away.
Does anyone know of a good reference that can be linked - or perhaps is
up to authoring an article that we can publish on the web?
In other news, the band has been pretty poor the past week. Last night,
it seemed that everyone except Oregon and Washington could work Europe.
VK6HD was coming in pretty well this morning several hours before sunrise
and several JAs were up late as well (no doubt ready to ring in the new
year).
A new European Beverage has been strung, but raging water in our normally
calm stream (due to 24 hours of intense rain) is preventing me from running
the coax out to it. Hopefully, I will be able to hook it up soon. This
one runs around 30 degrees - and will complement the 70 degree Beverage
nicely.
The JA Beverage continues to perform well - despite running down into the
ravine where the raging water is - about 100 feet below average terrain.
Wishing all TopBanders a happy New Year - hope to exchange signal reports
with all of you soon.
