Boy, I hope these conditions hold out for the entire season. I turned
the rig on last night (after Monday Night Football wasn't
entertaining), to hear an empty band except for all the europeans
calling CQ. First was G3RPB, then HB9ATA, they were calling and
calling with little response. So, after working them I decided to give
it a try. Well after 28 europeans in 12 countries I was worn out and
wanted to get up to try the VK9. The next morning rolled around and I
turned the rig on at 1216Z. I listened at 1822 but nothing. I moved
up the band and heard VK9LX calling CQ on 1824. I worked him split on
the first call at 1219Z, 45 minutes before sunrise. It's 1310Z now and
he's still a solid 579. Sure startes the day out right!
