Hi Petr,
I share your confusion! I have an Omni V and love it to bits.
I got it in 1991 when I was ZD8SE (staggered that makes it over 29 years
old...it replaced a Triton 544).
Anyway, I have the N4PY V9 chip but haven't fitted it yet. The meter lamps
have gone and there's a 300 Hz difference in dial vs actual frequency. The
CR2032 battery also needs replacing and I have an FM board to fit (though
at the moment I'm 100% CW, dx'ing (on 7MHz)).
So, some work to do!
I have a 500Hz filter and, in "Narrow", a 250 Hz filter. Ten Tec filters.
No idea of type numbers. I've also tried to work out which is what but,
yes, it's confusing.
I'm tempted by the Inrad roofing filter. The band is very competitive
nowadays - lots of kw's into G5RV's and Morse readers! I'm also looking
into a receiving loop to null DQRM.
Coincidentally I'm in the throws of building OK1RR's version of "Yet
Another Front End Saver". After that work I'll open the rig up and see what
filters I've got and where, and let you know what I'm using.
I do lose a bit of gain in Narrow but using my sig gen and spectrum
analyser along with passband tuning have worked out what should be where.
Not sure if that helps any but at least you may be reassured that you are
not alone!
