The "noise" situation is largely how it is perceived.
S meters read the same on both the Corsair II and the IC-7300 but the
"color" of the noise is vastly different.
The 7300's noise is harsher and annoying. The Corsair's noise is soft,
serene and soothing. I fell asleep during a QSO yesterday :*(
CW stands out above the softer noise.
