I have found through a litttle observation that the fan intake grill is too
restrictive. The resticted airflow causes the fan blades run in a stalled
condition which is inefficient and noisy. I carefully bent each intake rib
on the case up about 45 degrees. This increases the intake area and smooths
the air flow. A pair of worn (smooth) needlenose pliers was used to bend
each slat. The appearence is uniform with little sign of paint stress. Bottom line, the exhaust is 10 degrees cooler then stock, and a little quieter.
