As a practical matter, if your laptop has a COM (serial) port, the port will
almost certainly be designated COM1. The serial port will be a 9-pin male
connector, normally on the back of the laptop. If you do not have such a
port then you will need to use a USB-to-COM adapter. I believe you can
purchase one of these at Best Buy, or some similar store. Once you install
this device it will probably default to COM1.
You could check all of this by looking at the XP Device Manager window. Get
to it via Control Panel > System > Device Manager. If you have any COM
ports they will be listed under Device Manager.

Hi folks,
I have been avoiding down loading firmware updates for my Oll simply because
I am not a computer person. Step 5 states, "Select the com port to which the
transceiver is attached." How do I know what com port it is?????
I will be using a Gateway Solo 5300 lap top with XP installed. Also, I have
only about 2g of space available. Will that be enough????
Currently the Oll has ver 2.037j installed. I see that there are 2 new
revisions available. Do I have to install the first one and restart the
process and install the second one.????
LOVE the Radio, it is a lot smarter then I am.
