I have NO experience in all those test thingys. I just have 20+ years of
listening, and using my ears, and what's between them, to determine how to
wring the most performance from whatever rig I am using at the moment. Some
folks can't understand why I complain that Icom will not allow me to use the
Auto-notch function, AND engage a tunable audio notch simultaneously. Because
SOMETIMES it allows copy where either one alone will not.
Above: Fact.
Below: Theory (mine):
The higher performance rigs are becoming more susceptible to variations in
performance from one rig to the next (same model), due to variations in
COMPONENT to COMPONENT differences.... i.e. differences within the same part
number.
Back in my hole, still with no test experience.

Thanks Bob, but I think I have a clue. People
who actually know me (and my
background)
also think I have a clue. I regularly use high-end audio
test
equipment in my noise, level, and
distortion measurements. Audio test
equipment includes a Tektronix AA-501A analyzer
with an ultra-low-distortion
SG-505
module. The Tek equipment is visible on the operating desk
as shown
on my QRZ.com page. I also use
SpectraPlus software with a pro-grade sound
card.
I stand
by my prior comments.
