zero. If it is staying closed with zero voltage across the coil,

I'm not familiar with the relay used in the 509, but dry reed relays
are quite common. My Mouser catalog has five pages of them. If you
can give me a physical description and a manufacturer's name and
part number I can probably help you find a replacement.
