Well, lots of great discussion lately.....it has jarred my mind.
Makes me wonder how many angels would fit on the Ten-Tec
emblem? (Including the orange dot, if yours has one)
I wonder whether Ten-Tec went askew when they took the
orange dot out of the emblem on most of their rigs?
Could have been the beginning of the end. I kinda like
the led in the middle of the emblem on my Argo VI.
Seriously, I would like to see a rig 50 or 100 watts, that
is designed strictly for mobile use. To me that means
something like the old 540 and the Scout, that can
be operated without looking at the rig.
With all the distracted cell phone users these days, I
find it best to keep an eye on the road. Plus, like some
of you, I'm getting to an age where I need to keep my
eyes on the road, and concentrate without having to
look at a complex front panel.
I don't care about the electronics - that should be no
problem (I'm not trying to take the hobby backwards).
Cost would probably be about the same, but please
just a few controls - AF and/or RF gain, Band, Tuning, mode,
power out and noise blanker/reducer should do it.
Oh, yes, an audio annunciator for some functions
would be great.
I think the other manufacturers should look at this
concept, too, even with VHF radios. Would it fly?
(Roll, I mean)

Not interesting in the down side of the Scout...I know.
