Yes, I see that the receiver kits have been discontinued. Too bad. The
direct conversion and regenerative receivers got top ratings. I can't
believe that Ten-Tec was losing money on them. Maybe it's part of an
overall downsizing or product line consolidation.
Any suggestions on where I can find small receiver kits?
By the way, I have a 1254 receiver with the Cholakian mod kit and it's
great.
I see that the Ten-Tec power supplies and speakers are gone, too.

Just made a QSO on CQ WW CW contest with JA3KBY, using my Buddipole on
our balcony and the Jupiter. The very faint JA3 was very patient and
worked hard to get my call right, which I appreciate. With the
Buddipole oriented toward the southeast, and surrounded on the west
and north sides by concrete and rebar, the signal must have come in
long path.
It is not unprecedented for me to work an occasional JA (or Hawaii or
VK), but it's a first for just 100 watts and the Jupiter. No
counterpoise, either. No RFI. Amazing.

To avoid the NE snowstorm, I traveled south to Tennessee a day early last
week. I visited the new Ten Tec factory last Wednesday, operated the O7 from
their demo station, and chatted with Stan. A shipment of boards for the Omni
VII expected on the 14th had not shown up as of then, so they had not
started on the Omni production as of yet, but Eagle and Argonaut shipments
were continuing. Also noted that they should have the SP320B speaker
available again in a month or so.
Alas, there are no tours of the manufacturing area now and no more hamfests
because of a lack of outside space, but otherwise things look good at the
new plant. I was happy to see one of the "new" black-knob O7's in the demo
station and was able to get really nice reports using it with the 707 Regal
mic.
