Good to hear that performance (and I assume you mean receiver and
transmitter operation) is on your list of important features, along with
having a flashy color display. I was going to say if a beautiful color
display is so important to you, you could just buy a HDTV which will
look much nicer than the display on any amateur radio. Seriously though,
since apparently a great looking display really is important to you,
maybe you should consider using an outboard display with a radio that
supports one. You could get one of the black box SDR radios and use the
best computer monitor you care to spend your money on. Some of the
radios that still have those old fashioned knobs and buttons on them can
also be used in conjunction with either just a computer monitor or both
at computer and a monitor.
