Yes you could and then the 10 MHz reference and the 5.0-5.5 MHz PLL,
which is referenced to it, would be as stable and precise as the GPS
disiplined oscillator. The BFO and the band changing oscillators would
still be only as stable and precise as the crystals and circuitry
associated with them, so the overall frequency stability and precision
of the radio would still be no better than those oscillators. The
passband tuning VXO has no effect on the zero beat frequency stability
or precision, since it down converts the 9 MHz IF to 6.3 MHz and then
upconverts it back to 9 MHz, so any drift or inaccuracy in it's
frequency only affects where your bandpass is, and not where you zero
beat frequency is.
