I got my first Ten-Tec a few months ago and love it. I decided to try it
on SSB too and have hooked up a Shure Model 55, and also a Astatic D-104
ceramic mic element. Neither of these mics seems to have enough output
to really drive the rig properly or use the VOX. What is a standard
Ten-Tec microphone? Does it have a preamp in it? How about a Heil HC
element? Will it have sufficient output for the Omni? Any mic preamp
circuits that are recommended for use with dynamic mics? What about
modifying some component values in the mic circuit in the Omni. I am
sure these topics must have been covered before and I have just not
found it yet. Can anybody point me to the right information.
