I am a confirmed TenTec fan, but I have no first hand knowledge of the
TenTec amplifiers. When faced with the same decision as you about a
year and a half or so ago (I wanted a two 3-500Z amplifier with 160
meter capability), I opted for the QRO HF-2000. I am very happy I did.
I have owned seven amps, two of which I built from Heathkits. The QRO
is the best (and most expensive).
It is easily rest to a previous frequency without retuning, and the
tuning is very smooth. No heart stopping peaks, etc. Very quiet!
Good luck!
