Many DXpeditions are loaned rigs by the manufacturers; in return, the
manufacturer has "bragging rights" and will advertise that they are the
"official" radio of the DXpedition (or at least one of them).
Ten Tec does not, to my knowledge, loan out equipment at the present time.
And let's be honest... if you were putting together a major DXpedition, and you
had a choice of two radios... say, a K3 or an Omni VII... to pick for all of
your operating stations (possibly as many as 6 or 7 stations, double that if
you are running separate CW & SSB locations, triple if you're also running a
separate Digital location)... All else being equal, it comes down to one
brandyou'd have to buy, and the other which would be loaned at no cost to
you... which would you pick?
