| Lee, it depends on where I am. Most of the time I either use the Vibroplex
Brass Racer that's plugged straight into the Orion or hit an F key on the
computer keyboard and let the logging program drop my call or send an exchange.
Yeah, that's cheating but I can send and log at the same time.
Or I can shift right and use the Begali that's plugged into the MFJ 493 memory
keyer, or hit an F key and let the keyer send any of ten canned messages. But I
can't log and use the Begali - or that keyboard. Martin Jue says the '493 will
send up to 100 WPM. I don't know about that because I sure's blazes can't copy
that fast!
At my office, the Jupiter has my AEA Morse Machine set up with four/five
memories and no keyboard. Hand logging only, and a Kent single paddle or a
Vibroplex Vibrokeyer. Depending on my humor at the time. My secretary wonders
why I have a 24 hour clock set five hours ahead of local on my office wall -
but she don't ask no questions or repeat what she hears. Which makes her worth
her considerable weight in gold!
But if I were starting from strictly scratch, I think I would use a Begali into
the rig plus a parallel port keying adapter and let the computer do the routine
work. There may be a better key than a Begali, but I haven't found it yet.
