The jumpers may have been changed! For older 540, SN#<1400 that do NOT have
the VFO mod, the jumpers from pin#2to#5 must be removed and reconnected
between pins#4and#5. The cable came from the factory with the jumper from
pins#2and#5.
If your 540 has a serial number higher than 1400, make sure the jumpers are
back to factory setting.
