I fully agree. I'm an avid HF'er and work EME, MS, & tropo on VHF & UHF.
I've found that may of the "all band, all mode" rigs suffer in RX
performance, especially on VHF & UHF. I say if one wants to work HF then
get a good HF rig. For me, VHF & UHF demand separate radios. In truth, I
use a Tentec OMNI VI+ on 10M with dedicated Down East Microwave transverters
for VHF and UHF.
