The only problem is how you attach the external pot.
I thought a good solution would be to add a bracket for it under the bail/ 
foot at the front, and bring the pot out to front panel area that way. 
However, I do not operate at various powers enough to have prompted me to 
add it that way.  I was going to use flat cable out the back for the wires. 
One issue was should they be shielded?   Probably a quick mock up would show 
if there is RF leakage with longer wires.
