Dave, I've noticed the same weighting issue on two Omni VI's (Opt 3) I've owned. Both very good CW rig's otherwise, but the dit/dah ratio's range of adjustment on the internal keyer, was all on the "choppy" side of optimum, in my opinion. I also found the Winkeyer to be a good alternative. I can't believe this would be difficult to correct with a firmware upgrade on the Omni VII. By the way, My new Omni VII is on it's way here as I type this....
