"Ah, so. That may explain it, then. I think when you run DOS with Windows
98 and the Windows memory manager provides the Extended Memory that
Protected Mode TR-Log needs.
In any case, it appears that removing the "NOEMS" parameter from EMM386 in
CONFIG.SYS solves my problem by allowing EMM386 to setup Extended Memory.

I run TR-Log in a DOS Shell from Windows 95. Would that configuration
exhibit the same characteristics as Win 98 as described above?
