Folks,
If you're looking for a fun way to pass a hot Sunday afternoon (at
least here in the midwest), consider making a few contacts with field
QRP stations operating the Flight of the Bumblebees (FOBB) activity
from noon till 4pm CDT (1700-2100 UTC). Yep, it's a goofy contest
name, but the activity is supposed to encourage folks to get out and
operate in the outdoors Field Day style, requiring "bumblebees" to
walk, bike, or boat to their operating location. Home stations are
encouraged to operate as well.
The rules are at: http://www.arsqrp.com/ars/pages/bumblebees/bb_rules.html
CW only, power is limited to 5W, and contacts with "bumblebees" count
3x. Exchange is RST, SPC, and output power, or RST, SPC, and bee
number if you're registered as as a bee. So far, over 230 stations are
registered.
Activity will likely be centered around 60KHz from the bottom of the
bands except 40m which will be around 7040.
Hope to work some of you.
73, Steve AK0M
