Up to now I use the computer serial port to the key input on the rig and
encountered no keying problems using 'XP'
I don't know what comp operating system or logging prog was used by the guy who
has the problem with his TS570.
I wished to make sure that if I order a cable to do both jobs i wouldn't be
wasting my time but was sure any user of this type rig would give the 'heads
up' if they had encountered any problems.

Rig Control and keying are two completely separate
functions in SD - they don't depend on one another
in any way.
SD's internal keying can use either serial or
parallel ports (if your PC has them). However,
WinKey is recommended - it guarantees smooth
CW, especally with recent versions of Windows.
Rig Control requires a serial port, or a USB to
serial converter, then a level converter to suit
the rig - unless the rig already has a serial
input for control.
