When the nr is sent twice and one is garbled, you can't be sure of
that one. If went three times and one is garbled, no problem. I
almost always use 3x in the primary exchange and 5x when he asks for
a repeat. Wasted time? I don't think so. What REALLY wastes time is
when I have to ask for repeats 3-4 times.

I do it six times, almost never have to do it more than once. I have a
separate F-key which sends only the exchange, nothing else. Works
great.
