There's nothing on the website, that I can tell, giving any indication the
contest will run this year. Nor do I see any 2011
results.
However, let's get on and practice for WPX, which is the following weekend.
Give us something to do.
I guess I've never really been impressed with this contest. I don't even think
they issue awards do they? I know they didn't in
2002, even though they said in the rules they would. I heard from YL2KF, who
won that year, and he didn't receive anything.
Neither did the second place finisher. So that rubbed me the wrong way with
this group.
What did impress me was that were the first to offer separate SO1R and SO2R
classes starting in 2004, although the BARTG essentially
did this when they first introduced the Expert class starting with the BARTG
Sprint in 1998, then in the BARTG HF contest in 2001.
I have some changes that need to be done to my station before WPX, so I plan on
operating some of the XE contest to test things out.
