Hi all,
I know that the subject of DSL modems and RFI comes up every so often.
Well, I have a DSL line and a SpeedStream 5260 ADSL modem. My typical sync
speeds are around 1 Mb/sec.
I haven't done a lot of HF high power operating since getting the line, but
a week or two ago, I powered up and knocked the modem for a loop. Dropped
the connection and everything.
I purchased some FT-240-77 torroids from Amidon and wound the power cord
around one of them and the DSL line around another. I did about 5 to 6
turns on the power cord and about 11 on the DSL line. The torroid did not
affect sync speed.
This past weekend, I operated in the ARRL sweepstakes and ran 1500 Watts on
40, 20, 15 and 10m. I even worked my furnace! However, the DSL line stayed
connected and continued to transmit data all weekend. No interference
whatsoever.
Just thought folks would like to know.
73,
Jon
