About a month ago, I put together this document addressing exactly that
question, and some others. It plots the published results of ARRL Lab
testing of selected transceivers on the same graphs, thus allowing easy
comparison of the data. The older Flex rigs are pretty bad for phase
noise, but decent for keying bandwidth. The worst of the worst for
keying bandwidth is Yaesu, with Icom a distant second. Note that all of
these measurements were by ARRL -- only the analysis is mine.
