No embarrassment needed.
About a dozen yrs ago our neighbourhood suffered a lighting strike to a
shared transformer amongst a cluster of houses.
Suddenly there was 30/S9 QRM on 10m here. (much much less on all other
bands)
Long story short, I traced it down to a neighbours garage ~400' away. It
was his battery drill charger base. It was still working (apparently) but
had obviously sustained some kind of damage. (other items in his garage were
toast as well)
The guy (sk now) was difficult, so I spent $150 and bought him a brand new
drill, charger and 2 batteries and tossed all the old stuff into the trash.
Keeping the spectrum quiet so we can all work that super weak DX can be hard
and sometimes expensive. Glad you found it Scott!
