yes, it can be done. ken gave me part of his tsr kernal and i have been
playing with dsp applications for it. using a 386dx25 i can do a decent job
of rx filtering, the 'magic notch' is a bit tough but other fixed bandpass,
highpass and lowpass filters aren't too bad. maybe with a 486dx66 the thru-put
would be better.
i have also developed programs that do fft's on dvp recorded files and start
to sort out multiple cw signals from the noise. and can also convert dvp
files to windows 3.1 .wav files that can be replayed thru any windows wave
playback device. i haven't tried to go the other way, but it should be
fairly simple.
if anyone is interested in playing with this stuff i can supply the non-real
time code to anyone. the modified tsr is also available, but at this time
can't be run while ct is running only by itself. none of this is commercial
quality yet, its just stuff i'm playing around with, but it does show some of
the possibility of the board. i would not hold out too much hope for this
to become really good stuff since the board is not really meant for dsp work.
there are other dedicataed dsp products that can handle the required thruput
by using a dedicated dsp processor on a board by itself. it may be better to
figure out how to use the dvp to feed samples to another dsp board and do it
that way.
