Hi contest fellows,
on Sunday morning, after a 3 hours snap and about 800 qso's on the log,
before sitting again in the front of radio, I downloaded the e-mail
messages from reflector....
surprise, and which surprise: Eudora showed me a progressive bar running
slower than usual...it was downloading CT9.30, sent me by Ken himself...
I let you image my happiness so I decided to put at work immediately my new
version. I ought to be very happy to forget to make a back-up copy of 9.27
Bin, so all I made was putting new .EXE at work, after having registered my
copy, at last, with my call. To test it at its better possibilities, I
wired soon CW output to LPT2 and it worked flawless. My '97 IARU edition
ended with 1017 qso's all runned without any particular problem, so I
launched B2R9 for importing the contest into mainlog.
Here a bit surprise came out: the first session of the contest was outdate
of 1 hour more: log showed my effort had began at 13z, not at 12z. Also the
date had changed accordingly, so a real 23.04z qso on 12/7 had became
00.04z on 13/7. All the remaining effort from the istallation of new
release was correct. The idea of fixing the first 800 qso's with ALT+F
sincerely made on my legs a little tremor, so....great idea...I choose the
opposite:
I ran 9.27 (so also the last 200 and more qso was one hour before) and I
fixed these one with the previous shortcut. All went fine.
Moral: never using a new version without backuping the last one...I know
this, but always forget to do...

BTW: 9.30 runs well: after the contest ended, I create a new contest and
time and hours were correct: the problem had been my stupidity of changing
release inside the same contest, but by the way with 9.30 you CANNOT load a
contest file created with a previous version: the "one hour more" error
occurs again.

It's true also the opposite, if you use a bin of 9.30 with 9.27, so if
never could be done to correct this little bug, IMHO it would be better to
keep safe also a previous version of CT with the only purpose of having a
program to read the previous contest files (I keep all the .BIN files with
the .SUM to have a proof of learning curve, if any, during the years).
I would thank publicky Ken for having made my LPT1 free for the printer and
letting me admiring my own call when CT starts....so now nobody will tell
me why the call showed is not the mine...a kind way to say "You copied
it!!"... hi
Ciao..Sante
ps. my copy didn't recognize a USA call : K7SKW/50 (stroke fifty)....what
hell /50 mean??? I tried to ask him, but he went away in hurry...hi
