At N3RS, we ran a beta version of 9.39, after reporting to Ken that
we had serious problems with the first 9.39 with our two IC-775s.
He provided an update, which fixed most of the problems 775
related problems, but not all of them. The "holding regisiters" (Run
Freq. and Spot Freq/callsign) of the Alt-F4 scheme would
occasionally get messed up, so we had to memorize the run
frequency in the radio as a fool proof way to come back after
chasing/working packet spots.
However, we also noticed a significantly higher rate of computer
crashes with 9.39beta than the previous version used in the CW
contest, 9.37B. With the same three computer setup running
K1TTT's Ethernet network, we had no crashes at all in CW, but one
of the machines crashed about 10 times in SSB. Mostly, the
crashes were just system freezes, where nothing does anything,
and the computer has to be rebooted. Couple of times, we lost the
radio communication, and nothing worked to restore it except a
computer reboot.
So, from our vantage point, there is something slightly amiss in
9.39 as compared to 9.37.
FWIW.
