Correct. One operator and one operator only is permitted to contribute to the
score of a station in the Single-Op category, analogies to parking
notwithstanding.
Having a frequency held for you while you change bands to see what stations are
there could not more clearly be in violation of this rule, even if you don't
work a single other station on the other band.

Single-Op Unlimited (or Assisted) has nothing to do with "assistance" - only
whether or not information from the spotting network is allowed to be used.
