Tree: You hit the Nail On The Head: The biggest enjoyments of roving
are: 1) giving out lots of mults to our friends and competitors.
2) a tremendous technical challenge to pick sites, equipment
and operating techniques that enhance #1 above
3) QSO rates that are much higher than a typical non-super
home site
4) an opportunity to share contesting with others: a second op
or driver, for example..
We will continue to rove whatever the scoring scheme is.
We always sleep a few hours, and I never exceed the speed limit--
We can still hit 10-15 pre-planned sites in a weekend...
My only complaint: many people haven't figured out that we move
fast and don't work us early in the contest--only late when activity is less
and they have worked the bands dry...

Subject: NEC-WIN Antenna Software a Winner!
Message-ID: <9506152030.AA19042@hp-and.an.hp.com>
I received my copy of the NEC-WIN BASIC Antenna Modelling software
from Paragon Technology this week. This is release 1.0, which was
offered with a discount at Dayton. It basicly offers a nice Windows
interface/wrapper for the NEC code.
I am very pleased and impressed. Please understand that my experience
with antenna programs is limited. Yet in one evening I was able to
enter and study three antennas easily. I compared results on KY1H's
phased inverted vees at 150 feet on 80 meters, and got essentially
identical results to those he published in the YCCC Scuttlebutt.
As the program is in it's early release stages, I expected some bugs.
I found a few minor ones, but nothing that represents a serious
problem or a glaring error. I called the folks at Paragon Technology,
and they were very responsive to my comments and suggestions, noting
that they would be following up with more polished releases soon.
I have no affiliation with Paragon Tech, but I would highly
recommend their product.
