This was a new one on me --- knurled cup set screws. I looked them up, and found that are
actually called "knurled cup point set screws", and here is a good reference
that explains the many types of set screw point styles...whooda thunk it?

Thanks everyone for their tips. It turns out the Allen wrench size is 3/32
inch,? not the thread size. The set screw is 2050-26 10-32 x 1/8 inch.
I contacted New-Tonics and they are sending me 10 spare set screws for free!
Now that's great customer service.
BTW I mentioned to them that I hate their newer design that uses the set screws
to hold the whip to the resonator and how I wished they would go back to the
compression fitting. They are going to pass this along to their engineering
department.

Hi Jeff,
Those small set screws can be terminal out there on the road... A friend of
mine, Skip who makes duck decoys invented magnetic duck wings adapters that
attach to the decoy. The other decoys use tiny set-screws, which the
hunters drop in the water or in their blind. Thought that was a pretty cool
idea... Don't know if this tech can be transferred to mobile antennas some
how...
Jeff... I have 40m and 20m hustler resonators with compression fittings.
Haven't used these lately...If you need these, I could ship them to
y'all.....

It is not 3/32 as that is not a standard screw size. It is probably a #2 (most
likely) or #3. The best thing to do is take the screw to a good hardware store,
like Ace or True Value, or a commercial hardware supplier like Fastenal or
Grainger and ask them to match it. McMaster Carr also has them. If all you have

A small drop of Loctite will hold the set screws in place. Be sure to
use blue Loctite so you can loosen the set screws if you really need
to. I advise against red Loctite, as you will not break the screws
loose if you use that. Available at any good hardware store.

Well I must have been asleep when I wrote you last week as I forgot to plug the
SPDX RTTY and the BARTG 75 Sprint. I?m sure you dedicated keyboarders
discovered these on your own and were able to put in some quality time on the
keyboard. The BARTG 75 Sprint was great fun but conditions here were less than
exceptional. This weekend looks very thin so you may need to switch modes and
look for the Florida mobiles (Florida QSO Party). The Russian MultiMode test
advertises RTTY so maybe there is some hope after all.
Good group last week. 15 meters was a no go from here, and conditions don?t
look much better at the moment. But you never know, so give a listen on 15 for
the first few minutes and let?s see if we can warm up the ions.
