A closing CQ - in replacment of test - is going to be faster to send and more efficient for rate.  The S&P operator tuning across that call and hearing CQ at the end knows "call immediately" is the next action warranted.  With "test" - he may want to wait for you to call again.

To what extend "test" again?

Typically I send my call twice followed by "test" when running.
Otherwise it is not obvious that I am active calling in the contest and
not calling somebody else.

I usually send my call twice in run as I am QRP. In S&P only once. What I
find a bad habit also is to send "Test" again after the call in a CQ.
