Fellow contesters-
As you all know, WRTC-2002 will be taking place during the IARU contest
coming up in about 10 days. A few of us get to go to Helsinki to enjoy
the party, but the rest of us get to stay home. However, that doesn't
mean we can't all be part of the event.
Your radio can help connect you to the fun. This is a great chance
to turn on your radio - tune around and find guys to work. Even if you can
only spend an hour or two doing it - this will be enough time to show up in
the majority of the WRTC competitor's logs.
To help recognize those who do this - the Boring Amateur Radio Club will
put together a web page listing all of those stations who worked at least
10 of the WRTC stations (with the special OJ previx). Simply submit your
list of QSOs to barc@jzap.com to be listed.
There are also other awards programs being sponsored by the WRTC committee.

Let's all try to get on for a little and be a part of this great event.
I will have a guest op at my station (the ham formerly known as XE1/AA6RX),
but will setup a station out in the barn to work some of the guys with my
own callsign.
For most of the US, the best time to work these guys will be shortly after
sunset on 20 meters (or perhaps 15 if the sun gets some spots). Here in
the pacific northwest, the Europeans are VERY loud at this time and the
WRTC guys should be easy to find and work - even with a modest setup.
You might also want to hand out some QSOs to the "other" people in the
contest as well. The exchange is an RST and your ITU zone. Both modes
are used during the contest. You can find the full rules on the arrl.org

It might be almost as much fun as the Florida QSO Party.
