The 4CX1600B (pin base) and the 4CX1600U (GS23B, coaxial base) are NOT
two versions of the same tube - they are completely different tubes,
with different electrical characteristics.
The anode dissipation just happens to be the same, which gives them the
same "4CX1600" root name under the regular naming system.
The -B is a standard Svetlana product, made in their St Petersburg
factory and available in the USA.
The -U is not even a Svetlana tube. It is made at an independent factory
in the Ukraine. Svetlana were intending to market it, and got as far as
an interim data sheet, but backed off because of difficulties in
guaranteeing supplies in commercial quantities. For amateur quantities,
the well-known sources in the Ukraine seem very reliable.
