It might be a good idea before you start to check the vehicle
manufacturer's recommendations on radio fits. Certainly over here, they've
had recommendations for maximum power of radios in the vehicle handbooks
for some years, and I'd suspect 400watts might be asking for trouble. I
seem to remember that some 10 or more years back, there was a Japanese car
in the US (Toyota?) where the installation of 100 watts of HF invariably
led to the death of the car's CPU at $1100 a shot, and the manufacturer
denied all responsibility.
The FCC rules on radhaz need considering, too.
