WARNING, not wvery AMPS related, but
anyway (You can always hit DELETE)
Well,
After 3673 QSO's in the CQWW SSB
contest, and a little sleep, here is
the cure we are using (OZ9KY) when
running stateside on 40 Meters:
One 250 Meter long Beverage, located
1.5M above ground in the direction of
US. And the TX antenna is a normal 1/4
wave groundplane, using 56 radials,
all ontop of the ground (grass). And 1KW
of power (serious !). Using that,
I worked 160 US station in 1 hour and 40
minutes, the night between saturday
and sunday (local) without ANY problems.
I guess 40-50 % of the stations
peaked S9 db on the S meter (a
FT1000MP). It's true we have QRM in
Europe,
but a LOT depends on your antennas
!!!!!!! Only one solution on the "lower"
bands, BEVERAGE !
All in all, we had a lot of fun, and
even stopped 4 hours before the contest
ended, because of success :-) (And also
we where a bit sleepy :-(
