I thought that my nice pictorial links in the original posting explained it fairly well, they say a picture speaks a thousand words, so here's the links again http://wd7s.home.att.net/gallery-2.htm and http://www.nd2x.net/EA3AXV.html, two slightly different approaches to 'flapper caps',but both work well.
