Agreed, that is the one thing i did do, is replace the zener, but no
change. Looks like it is a bad tube, after swapping and pulling, the
problem follows the one of them. So now for a little market research i
guess.

## RF parts is an excellent source for a pair of matched 3-500Z’s.
While u are at it... replace the lytics if they are the oem ones.
The zener can be replaced with 10-12 1N5408s...or 6A10s.
Add some simple protection, like a 50 ohm glitch R. And rvs
connected diodes between chassis and B- . An d also across the
meters.
