The 3CX800 seems pretty fragile to me. For about the price of a pair
of those you can get a single 8877 with its 25 watt grid dissipation
and not have to worry about it.
In my homebrew 8877 amp, the actual grid dissipation at 1500 watts is
about 2.5 watts - plenty of headroom and no protection circuit needed.
Just a thought.
