"In my next life I'm going to have a completely equipped metal shop."

Life is too short not to have one. But, it is addictive. A mill and a
lathe are handy, but then you will find out the advantages of a CNC machine.
But, after you have one, you will have to teach yourself how to run it.
Then, you will have to learn engraving. Recently I needed to replace a
missing knob on a rare old WWII high powered AM transmitter. So, I taught
myself how to cast knobs. I got carried away and now have red, blue, green,
yellow and plain black knobs.

I recall building things years ago with a drill, file and hacksaw. It all
looked like crap. A couple years ago, I built a replica of a Paraset, which
is a WWII spy transceiver. Works beautiful, but the more I looked at it,
the more the pop rivets bothered me. They looked like crap. So, I learned
how to set real rivets and the next one is real.

I want to make some variable caps, although I still have a good supply.
And, some day, I may want to learn how to make a vacuum tube. Would be nice
to be running a pair of K7FM tubes in the final.

73, Colin K7FM
