For those who might have a sick sb220:
Called Eimac (in CA) on Friday. Yes I think they may have
a new name and they don't make the 3-500Z there, but Reid was willing
to help. He did not think it was the tubes.
So the 3-500Z's were moved to a LK-500 Saturday and they worked
great. Checked everything on the sb220 and finally
bought three 5 watt 5.1Volt zeners before the part house closed.
Replaced the cathode zener and now the sb220 is working and
good power out again.
Only outstanding item is that the plate meter seems to read low.
If anything the resistor across the meter (5600ohms) seems to be
on the high side (abt 6100?) which should have the opposite effect.
Noteworthly:
seems I could get more out of the sb220 than the LK500?
Eimac has a neat web site.
Any ideas on tuning the input coils to the sb220 ??
My spare 3-500z in storage for abt 7 years fired up and worked perfect.
