Hi Gang
I recently obtained a 60s vintage Measurements Mdl 52 Grid Dip Oscillator.
It's built like a tank and in excellent condition. It operational range is
from 2.5 to 420 Mhz. It produces a solid current current at it the top end
of its range.
There is one fly in the ointment albeit a small one. The oscillator is
intermittent. It is readily apparent that the cause of the problem is the
equipments age. As the oscillator uses tubes and point to point wiring so
it looks like the problem should be cleared up with a few hours of work
reheating solder joints and cleaning contacts.
The question I want to pose to the list has to do with contact cleaner. I
know there is a range of products out there. I'm wondering if there is any
difference in performance of $1.50 can of cleaner that you buy at Radio
Shack versus the stuff sold to professionals like the multiple treatment De
Oxit ?
