If we plate the silver strap with nichrome, then perhaps the bad parasitic electrons would remain on the surface, while the good dx working electrons would flow through the silver. Or, maybe it is the other way around, with the silver plate for nichrome strap. Sometimes I get confused on Friday, near lunch time.
