That's right Peter. That is ONLY true when loading is correct for the 
amount of drive. You can easily have several times that voltage in 
an amplifier that isn't class A.

I have a breadboard MOSFET amplifier here (a single MRF-150) for 
a demonstration that will make over 100 volts peak tank voltage 
with a 12 volt drain voltage when you short the output of the tank to 
ground.
